1. Who this applies to

These terms govern your use of this website and of the images and written interpretations published on it. By using the site you accept them. If you do not accept them, please do not use the site.

2. What is claimed, and what is not

The markings engraved on the Buga Sphere are not the property of the author. They are the markings of an object, and no copyright is claimed over the underlying marks themselves, over their shapes as they appear on the sphere, or over any photograph of the sphere taken by others.

What is claimed is everything made from them. Specifically, the author claims copyright in:

the gold Japanese brush-calligraphy renderings of each symbol published on this site, as original artistic works;
the written interpretation of each symbol — the emotion assigned to it and the quantum principle described — as original literary works;
the selection, ordering, numbering and arrangement of the twenty-eight symbols presented here, as a compilation;
the text, design, layout and code of this website.

These are creative interpretations. Redrawing a mark in a chosen calligraphic hand, and assigning it a meaning, is authorship, and it is that authorship which is protected — not the sphere.

3. What you may do

You may read, share links to, and quote briefly from this site for personal, educational, editorial or review purposes, provided you credit Hedley Cohan, aliensymbols.com and do not alter the meaning of what you quote.

4. What you may not do without written permission

Reproduce, redistribute or republish the gold symbol images, in whole or in part.
Use the images or interpretations commercially — including in merchandise, print, tattoo flash, NFTs, tokens, apparel, packaging, album art, or advertising.
Use the images or the written interpretations as training data for machine-learning or generative systems.
Present the interpretations as your own work, or as an established or academic translation.
Remove or obscure attribution, watermarks or metadata.

5. Nature of the interpretations

The meanings given on this site are the author’s personal interpretation. They are not a peer-reviewed decipherment, and no academic or institutional body has endorsed them. No linguist, museum or peer-reviewed study has published a translation of the Buga Sphere markings. Nothing here should be relied upon as established fact, as scientific advice, or as medical, psychological or financial advice.

6. Third-party links and the æntenna app

This site links to the Apple App Store and Google Play. Those services are governed by their own terms and privacy policies, over which the author has no control. The æntenna app is provided under its own terms.

7. Privacy

This site does not ask you for personal information and does not set advertising cookies. If you email the address above, your message and address are used only to reply to you and are not sold or shared.

8. Liability

The site is provided “as is”, without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law the author accepts no liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, this site or its contents.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia, and the courts of that jurisdiction have exclusive jurisdiction.

These terms may be updated from time to time. The date at the top of this section shows the current version.
